01

Choose the pad type

Action

Use Warm for stability, Glass for brightness, Choir for vocal color, Evolving for motion, and Ambient for diffusion.

Why

The source character already determines much of the mix.

02

Lengthen without creating wash

Action

Shape attack and release so chords connect without excessive overlap.

Why

Long tails accumulate and quickly increase density.

03

Place the pad in register

Action

Avoid the lowest notes if a bass is already present. Simplify voicings.

Why

A pad does not need to cover the full spectrum to feel wide.

04

Add movement and space

Action

Add chorus, filter movement, or reverb moderately. Compare in the full track.

Why

Motion should support the track without becoming the focal point.

CHECKLIST

Before finishing

  • The pad does not mask the bass.
  • Chord changes remain distinct.
  • The track still adds atmosphere at a moderate level.
